Troop 628 Extends Gratitude

June 23rd, 2014 No Comments

Boy Scout Troop 628 (Lake Linganore / New Market) would like to extend sincere thanks to the Lake Linganore community for supporting its recent mulch/doughnut sale. Proceeds from this annual sale provide a valuable Scouting experience throughout the year. Recently the Troop hiked a 40-mile portion of the Appalachian Trail (May 23 – May 26). The hike began at Camp Tuckahoe in Dillsburg, PA and ended at the Pennsylvania – Maryland border. Previously, Troop 628 hiked the trails of Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico; taken a canoe and camping trip to Northern Tier High Adventure Base in Minnesota; and enjoyed white water rafting and caving adventures at Laurel Highlands in Pennsylvania. In 2014, Troop 628 plans to hike the Presidential Range of New Hampshire’s White Mountains; participate in sailing, scuba diving, and fishing at Florida Sea Base; and attend a week-long residential camp at Camp Tuckahoe in Dillsburg, PA. Troop 628 enjoys giving back to the community; the Troop has helped rebuild pedestrian bridges, improve trails, and clean beaches throughout Lake Linganore. Troop 628 meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays at the New Market United Methodist Church on Route 874 (old New Market Road) and welcomes new members.
