Scouts collect nearly two tons of food donations in Lake Linganore

by Pack 628 & Troop 628

A huge thank you goes out to the Lake Linganore Community for the generous donation of non-perishable food during the annual “Scouting for Food” drive Saturday, November 8, 2014. Over 3,500 pounds (1 ¾ tons!!) of food was collected from Lake Linganore and hauled to the food bank. Scouts from Pack 628 and Troop 628 spent the morning gathering donations from the community and filled three pick-up trucks full of food (the word is that Lake Linganore had the largest donation in the county!).

Scouting for Food is an annual food drive that takes place in early November. Donations from across Frederick County help keep the shelves at the food bank stocked through spring. Pack 628 meets Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at Deer Crossing Elementary and welcomes new members in first through fifth grade. For more info, go to Troop 628 meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays at the New Market United Methodist Church on Route 874 (old New Market Road) and welcomes new members.
