Hurricane Sandy: Tuesday UPDATE (10/30)

LLA Field Personnel have been out all day patrolling the community and will continue to identify and respond to damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. In-Office LLA Staff is working remotely to communicate reports and coordinate response efforts in lock step. The Coldstream Office is closed today and will reopen tomorrow, (Wednesday, October 31). Regular office operations have been suspended, but emergency response is well underway.

As of 1pm today (Tuesday, October 30), all LLA roadways are passable. There is a significant amount of debris in the roadway (limbs, leaves, etc.) and Field Personnel have been cleaning up this material as they travel to various locations throughout the community.

If stormwater management systems are clogged with an overwhelming quantity of debris they cannot work properly.

The level of Lake Linganore is noticeably high, however it is being monitored and relieved as needed. Staff was in contact with local officials prior to the Hurricane and will continue to address the lake level and Dam safety.

There have been conflicting reports related to road blockages along Boyers Mill Road. Please use caution if you decide to leave your home today. Please expect that there will be trees down, fallen limbs and grounded power lines. Frederick County Highway Operations has been updating affected roadways on their website at: Click Here to View Fred.Co. Road Closures!

Trash pickup will follow an alternate schedule this week. The LLA Trash contractor has provided a holiday schedule to accommodate waste pickups this week. Pickups this week are as follows:

Tuesday – October 30

– The Landfill is Closed. No trash will be picked up.

Wednesday – October 31

– Trash will be picked up curbside by the LLA Trash Contractor. Fred.Co. Recycling has not reported whether service will be sustained or canceled. Please Call 301-600-2960 for up-to-date service information or check their website at: Click Here to View Fred.Co. Recycling Status!

Thursday – November 1
