Petition for TIF & CDA Approval!

February 26th, 2014 No Comments

Your Continued Support is Needed

How many times have you wondered… Why can’t I get on I-70 westbound before Monocacy Boulevard?

How many times have you heard about the Eaglehead Drive Bridge connection to Oakdale High School and wondered if you were ever going to see it in your lifetime?

Oakdale Investments, LLC, the developer of the non-developed areas of Lake Linganore, has proposed a financing tool in which these much needed road improvements can be built in the near future.

The proposal is to build the missing ramps to I-70 at Meadow Road using Tax Increment Financing, also known as TIF. The Eaglehead Drive Bridge and regional water and sewer infrastructure will be built using Community Development Authority (CDA) financing. Most importantly, the TIF and CDA financing WILL NOT require any new taxes or tax revenue from existing residents of Lake Linganore or Frederick County. The TIF and CDA will only apply to future development of Lake Linganore approved by the Developer Rights and Responsibility Agreement (DRRA) last year.

The Frederick post had an article relating to this on Friday, February 21, 2014. Part of this article included the following:

Commissioner Paul Smith called the idea a ‘win-win.’

“This is about as close to a no-brainer as I think you’ll get,” Smith said.

Commissioner Billy Shreve said board members had received more than 400 notes from Lake Linganore community members supporting the developer’s plans.

A public hearing for the TIF and CDA will be held on March 6, 2014 at 7pm at Winchester Hall in Frederick. I encourage residents to come out to the meeting and support the continuation of proper development of Lake Linganore.

I would also request that you support the above proposals by sending the petition email above to your County Commissioners. This community made the Commissioners realize that the Lake Linganore Community Voice should be heard when they supported the DRRA. Please continue to let your VOICE be heard.
