Monday Messages from the Candidates

March 19th – Message 3

Board of Director Candidates are not required to participate in this campaign activity. Please see the bottom of the post for a full list of of the 2018 BoD Candidates.

Lake Linganore Association is home to approximately 9,000 Frederick County taxpayers.  Moving forward, what kind of relationship do you feel LLA should have with the greater Frederick County community?  Would you favor engagement with the County Council Members and the Executive? If not, why?

Samantha Hoague

LLA is a large association which oversees the commons and natural resources within which affect our members as well as the counties. Without a doubt we need to take on an “official” engagement with County Council members and the Executive if at the very least to protect what rights we currently hold and to protect future ones against uncontrolled growth.  We need to ensure that we have schools which are best among the county. Fire and police protection which we can count on.  A board which is “Friendly” and transparent to all will keep “ALL” players (Government and Builders) willing to work towards a common goal. We are not an island which stands apart from Frederick County but one that is part of the county. What affects us affects them. What affects them affects us.

George Schwab

I believe it’s always a positive thing to have good and open communications with all stake holders of our community. Having a good relationship with the greater Frederick County Community is absolutely essential for our long term success. Yes, I would favor active engagement with the County Council Members and the Executive in order to make sure they consider Lake Linganore when decisions are made. It’ll be easier to negotiate if they know us personally and have a clear understanding of our mission and vision as well as respect how our community functions and contributes to Frederick County as a whole.

To have an effective presence we should participate in the process on a county level. Someone should be present at important meetings so that we can be represented and informed about the issues and how they affect our community.  Perhaps we could also have an article summarizing those important, county issues in our Lake Talk newsletter. If we see that Lake Linganore’s interests are not being served; our elected board, staff and representatives must act in a unified and decisive manner.

Matthew Smith

The residents of Lake Linganore are Frederick County taxpayers.  Frederick County owns our water and sewage maintenance system.  This fact alone is enough for me to believe that it is necessary to have a favorable, working relationship with the county council.  As a Lake Linganore resident and homeowner, I’m less concerned with LLA’s relationship with the greater Frederick County community and more interested in enhancing our neighborhood.  As a potential member of the board, I understand that developing a better relationship with the county could be a benefit to the homeowners.  However, my attention remains on smaller, direct changes that we can complete as a community.
