LLA’s Fire Lanes Under Evaluation

As our development grows, so too will our demand for emergency services. It has been observed by both County officials and Linganore residents that parking in certain areas of Lake Linganore is a concern. Both narrow roadways and challenging topography create unique safety issues for emergency responders.

After much discussion, it was decided that in order to ensure clear access for emergency responders, new fire lanes would be indicated on various LLA roadways. “Fire Apparatus Access Lanes” or “Fire Lanes” allow fire equipment to approach a building and operate effectively. Fire lanes will clear roadways of vehicle traffic and reduce the response time of emergency personnel. Frederick County officials will be working to identify areas in Lake Linganore where fire lanes would be beneficial.

In an emergency situation is critical to provide quick access for emergency services equipment. Having roadways clear of obstructions is essential to creating positive outcomes for victims. All fire lanes are reviewed and approved by the Frederick County Fire Services Department.

A Fire Lane can be indicated in several ways. Fire lanes may present signage that states “No Parking” or “Fire Lane.” Fire Lanes may also be indicated by a yellow painted curb.

Areas designated as fire lanes should not be used for personal parking conveniences and are reserved for emergency vehicles only. Please do not park in areas designated as fire lanes–not even for a minute as it only takes a minute for an emergency to occur.

Thank you for your understanding as we work with Frederick County officials to improve the safety of Lake Linganore roads.
