Summer’s Here… Who Let the Dogs Out?

September 5th, 2012 No Comments

Well, the warm weather has finally arrived to Lake Linganore.  Now that summer is here our four legged friends get the chance to spend a lot more time outdoors.  With this newfound freedom come more responsibilities for their owners.

Some of these basic responsibilities are more obvious than others such as cleaning up after your dog while using the trail systems.  This can easily be accomplished by using one of the many pet stations located throughout the communities.  Maintaining control of your dog with the use of a leash is another simple example responsible dog walking.

The impact of your dog on the neighbors around you is another responsibility.  Dogs that are left outside unattended and constantly barking can turn peace and quiet into a canine nightmare.  Even worse, are owners who allow their dogs to howl endlessly throughtout the night.  Imagine a car alarm going off for hours…get the idea?

Paramount to dog ownership is socialization and behavior.  There are dogs that regularly show aggression towards passersby, including kids outside playing.  Every pet owner has an obligation to ensure that all four legged members of the household are not tarnishing the Family’s good name.

Do your part to make these great summer days and nights enjoyable for all of us that choose to live in Lake Linganore.  In the interest of peace and tranquility, pick up after you pooch and make sure they play nice!
