Introduction to Lake Talk

Lake Talk, the Eaglehead monthly community newspaper, was started in February 1996 as a way for the Lake Linganore Association (LLA) board of directors to communicate to the membership important information on issues facing the community. Lake Talk is the official notification publication of the LLA and is considered a membership service.

Letters to the Editor are encouraged. Lake Talk reserves the right to edit letters, if necessary. All letters must be signed and bear the address and phone number of the writer for verification purposes. Advertising in Lake Talk helps to defray the cost of the publication. Residents are encouraged to patronize Lake Talk advertisers.

Submitting Information to Lake Talk

Press Releases

Submit press releases by the 15th of the month for the following month’s publication (example: submit in January for February issue). Press release information is subject to space limitations and may be edited. Releases can be e-mailed to the Lake Talk editor at Copydesk@aol.com or jgurley@lakelinganore.org.

Trading Post

This is a free monthly classified service provided to the LLA membership and is published in the community newspaper Lake Talk. Submissions are encouraged to be no longer than approximately six to 10 lines.

Selling commercial products or services through the Trading Post is prohibited. Commercial products and services can be advertised in Lake Talk by contacting ad account representative Bill Duffy at (301) 668-7740. If you have questions as to whether your service is eligible for the Trading Post listing contact Copydesk@aol.com or jgurley@lakelinganore.org. Trading Post items must be submitted no later than the 18th of the month for the following month’s publication (example: submit in January for February issue). Please include name, address, and phone number for LLA member/resident verification.

Photos

Return of photo submissions is not guaranteed, therefore please do not submit the original copy of your photo. Put your name and address on the back of your photo in ball point pen only and every attempt will be made to return the copy of your photo.

LLA members are encouraged to submit photos of seasonal landscape scenes, community events or other photos for publication. Submit photos as soon as possible but at least by the 12th of the month for consideration in the following month’s publication (example: submit in January for February publication).

Advertise in Lake Talk

Businesses or individuals can place a display advertisement in Lake Talk by contacting Bill Duffy at (301) 668-7740. Ad contracts have all rate and mechanical information. Advertising is done by contract only and contracts must be paid in advance, in full, before ad can be published.
