WestWinds (WW) ECC
Guideline for Yard Sale
Adopted March 15, 2006 by WW ECC
Supersedes all previous WW ECC Yard Sale Guidelines
Any yard/garage/moving sale must be a community-wide sale
and requires ECC approval in advance of the sale. No individual sales will be permitted. Sales will be permitted only on a Saturday during the following
period: May 1 through October 31. No more than two (2) community-wide sales
will be permitted within one calendar year, including any LLA sponsored
Eaglehead community-wide sale(s) (which will suffice for the WestWinds
community-wide sale(s) and no other sale(s) will be approved for WW). WestWinds residents who plan to participate
in any Eaglehead community-wide sale(s) should contact LLA to register.
Location of the sale may only be on individual, improved lots. A sale may be held for no longer than six (6) hours on one day only. Any signage must be approved by the ECC. Approved signage may be erected the evening prior to the sale, and must be removed shortly after the sale but no later than two (2) hours after the end of the sale.
Procedure for Submission:
At least 60 days prior to the anticipated sale date, a written request is to be submitted by the homeowner(s) responsible for initiating/organizing a sale. The ECC meets the first Wednesday of each month, therefore, the request package should be received prior to the first Wednesday meeting to allow a full 60 days for review and response time.
Mail request package to WestWinds Environmental Control Committee, P.O. Box 589, New Market, MD 21774 and include the following:
1. Organizing homeowner(s) name, address, and phone number.
2. Date (including rain date) and beginning/ending times of sale.
3. List of participating homeowners’ names/addresses* (after ECC approval is obtained, an updated participant list is to be sent to the
ECC prior to the sale date).
4. Sample of signage to be used (signs are not to be greater than
36” x 24” in size).
No application fee required. Neither the WW Homeowners Association nor the ECC will pay for advertising expenses.
*Organizer(s) of sale will be responsible for notifying WW residents of upcoming sale to solicit participation.
